One Recipe: Homemade Maple Brown Sugar Butter

This post is another in the “One Recipe” series in which, in between destination visits, I am sharing recipes featuring previous Local Choice ingredients.

Not to steal a page out of Paula Deen’s book, but food without butter would unarguably be very monotonous. What other ingredient can make sauces silky, potatoes creamy, biscuits flaky, and plain old vegetables sing with flavor? Popcorn sans butter is boring and fresh summer sweet corn without a few tabs of melty goodness is just plain dull. Buying good quality butter at the grocery can be expensive, so next time you find yourself with a ½ gallon of Snowville Creamery whipping cream and some Malabar Farm maple syrup, turn up a batch of this Homemade Maple Brown Sugar Butter and just remember everything in moderation!

Use this sweet butter on everything from your morning pancakes and waffles to savory sweet potatoes and roasted carrots.

I had flapjacks with brown sugar butter at a restaurant in Toronto and it was incredible! I don't know how I can ever have plain pancake syrup again!
